Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
How can I renew my item?
Some items, such as mobile hotspots, are unable to be renewed. For items that can be renewed, they will automatically renew up to 3 times as long as the item does not have a hold on it for another patron.
Do I need an ID to get a library card?
Our county requires proof of residence. This can be in the form of your ID/ driver's license, or it can be in the form of a lease or utility bill as long as the document has both your legal name and current address.
Can children get library cards?
Yes. For a minor to get a library card, their legal guardian must come to the library to fill out an application and show proof of residence.
Can children use the public computers?
Only children with library cards may use our public computers. Patrons under 18 years old without library cards are not eligible for guest passes due to the need of parental consent for internet usage.
Can my child check out movies and video games?
The library card application for DCLS contains a section that allows the legal guardian to decide whether or not a minor can check out video games or movies. We follow the instructions we are given from the application. If you wish to change the selection you made, you must come to the library.
How can I volunteer?
We love volunteers! One way to volunteer is to join our Board of Trustees. Anyone who volunteers in the building must show us proof of all clearances. This includes: state police clearance, child abuse clearance, and FBI clearance (including fingerprinting). Once you provide copies of these, we will be happy to work with you and find volunteer work that you will enjoy!
Can I make a monetary donation to the library?
Yes! Currently, we are only able to accept monetary donations in the form of cash or check. Checks can be made out to Tinicum Memorial Public Library.
